JCB Doubly Honoured at the ACQ’s 2026 Construire Awards

JCB has achieved a true hat trick: after winning the Builder of Excellence category in 2024 and the Innovation category in 2025, the company now adds the Sustainable Construction award to its list of honours, completing a journey guided by three core principles, excellence, innovation, and sustainability.
Sustainable construction serving the community
This environmental recognition crowns the sustainable initiatives implemented as part of the construction project for the new Sun Youth community and sports center. Located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal, the organization’s new home embodies a forward-looking approach to sustainable construction, notably through adherence to Zero Carbon Building (ZCB) design principles, the integration of a mass timber structure, the use of geothermal and solar energy, and many other exemplary practices.
This achievement fully aligns with JCB’s commitment to addressing today’s environmental challenges while promoting responsible work methods, including material optimization, construction waste reduction, the integration of eco-responsible building principles, and the implementation of concrete measures to minimize disruptions for the community.
“Winning an award in sustainable development is a great source of pride for us and confirms that our environmental commitment is both tangible and measurable. We firmly believe that the construction industry must play a leading role in the ecological transition by adopting innovative and responsible practices. It is all the more meaningful to have achieved this for such an important organization as Sun Youth,” said Alejandro Oruña, Vice President, Construction.

“Over the past few years, JCB has had the immense privilege of being recognized at the Construire Awards as a Builder of Excellence and in the Innovation category. The Sustainable Construction award completes the trio of guiding principles at the heart of our decisions and actions. Excellence, innovation, and sustainable development are fundamental to our team,” said Alexandre-Stéphane Boucher, President and CEO of JCB Construction Canada. “This additional recognition reflects the commitment of our entire team to making a positive impact on our communities,” he added.
This project is the result of close collaboration with the client Sun Youth and the many partners involved.
A promising young leader
During the same evening, Jean-Christophe Caron received the Young Leader Award, highlighting his involvement within the company, his community, and the development of the industry.

Joining JCB in 2018 as an estimator, he quickly stood out for his dedication and determination. He was promoted to Chief Estimator in 2022, then Director of Estimation in 2023. In 2024, he became a shareholder and has since served on the executive committee. Now Vice President, Preconstruction, he plays a central role within the organization by actively contributing to the company’s growth, targeting high-potential markets, supporting the overall growth and positioning strategy, and enhancing the client experience at every stage of a project.
“I have had the opportunity to see Jean-Christophe grow over the years, and the recognition he is receiving today is well deserved. Committed, empathetic, principled, and unifying, he possesses all the qualities of a great leader. We are proud of his journey and very fortunate to have him on our team,” said Alexandre-Stéphane Boucher. “We look forward to continuing our growth with inspiring leaders like Jean-Christophe,” he concluded.
This success builds on the company’s recent recognitions and once again highlights JCB Construction Canada’s commitment to pushing boundaries while integrating sustainable practices.
