Our Jeunesse au Soleil Community and Sports Centre project is a finalist for the Mōnuma Awards.

For its second edition, the Mōnuma Awards celebrate the excellence and expertise of designers, architects, landscaping professionals, and construction contractors.

It is in this context that the new Sun Youth Community and Sports Centre was selected in the Construction category. Serving more than 30,000 people in need each year, the Centre stood out for its mass timber structure, featuring impressive 90-foot beams, its geothermal system covering heating and cooling needs, solar panels, and the integration of recycled bricks.

Inaugurated in spring 2026, the project was developed to create a new home for the charitable organization Sun Youth, featuring spaces dedicated to sports and the arts, as well as a range of community services, including a grocery-style food bank, welcoming and meeting spaces, a study and tutoring room, a clothing dispensary, a community kitchen, and a cafeteria.

Located near Jarry Park on Saint-Laurent Boulevard, just steps from De Castelnau metro station, the 40,000-square-foot, three-storey building incorporates numerous sustainable design strategies and aims to achieve carbon neutrality.

Through BIM modelling and rigorous coordination among the teams, technical challenges related to the demolition of existing infrastructure, a demanding urban site, and the integration of highly energy-efficient systems were successfully managed, while allowing the project to be completed ahead of schedule.

Beyond its construction and environmental performance, the project demonstrates how architecture, collaboration, and resource optimization can make a tangible contribution to an essential social mission.

Congratulations to all the teams involved in this collective success!
